GCP & RECCAP2

The Global Carbon Project (GCP) integrates knowledge of greenhouse gases (GHG) for human activities and the Earth system. Their projects include global budgets for three dominant greenhouse gases — carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide — and complementary efforts in urban, regional, cumulative, and negative emissions.

RECCAP2 (REgional Carbon Cycle Assessment and Processes) is a bottom-up effort by the global research community and driven by the Global Carbon Project with partner groups.

The scientific objectives are

1) to establish the GHG budgets of large regions covering the entire globe at the scale of continents (or large countries) and large ocean basins, including their component fluxes (2010-2019 or later), and

2) to produce new synthesis of global land, ocean and their interface GHG fluxes.
